Therefore, ComBOTS is dead…

Well, this is just a false front…the heart of ComBOTS was this:

OK, this is one of our former Datacenter Cells. Those racks were filled up with machines like this one:

We named them UHNS aka User Home Node System, cool name, right?

Ok, for the nerds:

2x Dual Core AMD Opteron 275

16GB RAM

16x 500GB SATA Harddrives together as Raid6 (via Areca Raid6 Controller) makes this 7 TeraByte Storage.

Now multiply this machine with 600 of them…now you know why it was fun to work in such an environment…

BTW, we deployed them via FAI (Hi MrFAI) with SLES9…took 6 Minutes (it does not count if it was one or 300 machines…), but just because Yum was too slow :)

Ok, this wasn’t the only hardware we had…some hundreds of HP 35p Blades, some DL585 for the Oracle Server Crap and many many many DL365/DL360/DL380 machines…
