"
(whoow! heres a little song for everybody out there)
People try to take my soul away, but I dont hear the rap that they all say
They try to tell us we dont belong, thats alright, were millions strong
This is my music, it makes me proud, these are my people and this is my crowd

Chorus:
These are crazy, crazy, crazy, crazy nights
These are crazy, crazy, crazy, crazy nights
"
(Kiss: Crazy Crazy Nights)

Leonov – The Launchpad Desktop Client – The First Coming

The Leonov Development Team is proud to present to you the very first preview release of "Leonov – The Launchpad Desktop Client".

The First Leonov Logo

What is Leonov?

Leonov is/will be the Launchpad Desktop Client! But whats that! You’ve never heard of Launchpad?

Launchpad is a free software hosting & development site, created by Canonical, sponsors of Ubuntu.

Leonov tries to give you, as a User and/or Developer, the ability to access Launchpad without your web browser.

You can download this release here: Leonov Version 0.0.1

What are the features of the Leonov – The First Coming – Release?

Well, right now, there are not much features in this release. We are able to fetch your personal tasks and show the single tasks of an upstream project, distro package etc. You are also able to see other peoples task lists. You are able to read all comments, and see a report’s attachment. Furthermore, you are able to download those attachments, one or all, however many is up to you

More features shall come in future releases

What do I need to do to run Leonov – The First Coming – Release?

For this release, we internally named it a ‘preview release’, you need to have Gnome and KDE4.1(at least beta1) installed. As we are developing Leonov on Hardy you can get a KDE4.1beta2 Release from the Kubuntu Members PPA. To do this, follow this guide, created from our fellow Kubuntu Developer and Core Dev Richard Johnson.
You will find the installation instructions here.

Right now the GTK & QT frontends are not separate, which will be done in one of the next releases.

Is this release for me?

This is hard to tell. I think this "FIrst Coming" Release is more suited for curious Ubuntu developers, Heavy Users and Developers of Launchpad, or for last but not least: SABDFL aka Mark Shuttleworth, the Patron of Ubuntu and First African in Space.

Who are the people working on Leonov?

First of all, all members of the Project Leonov Development team (they can be found on this list on Launchpad)

But there are more, and we need to give them a special "Thank You!":

  • Markus Korn – Awesome developer of Python Launchpad Bugs, without him, this project would not ever be born :)
  • Andrew H. aka Rugby471 – For his awesome work on icons and correcting my spelling mistakes :)
  • Marc Cheng – He created the templates for the Leonov.tv website (that’s what you are seeing now, it’s work in progress stil) :)
  • Daniel Prien – Creator of the awesome Leonov Logo.
  • Eugene Tretyak – Creator of the new Launchpad Logo (the Crystal)
  • Celeste Lyn Paul – KDE Godess of Usability Fame
  • and many many more…

Where can I send proposals for more useful features, and where do I send reports, when I encounter an error or a glitch?

That is an easy question: Go to this page and do what you need to do :)

Is there an IRC Channel when I want to help?

Sure there is: #leonov@irc.freenode.net

Are there screenshots?
